Your Wedding Timeline Guide

You’ve found your person, you’ve said the easiest ‘yes’ ever, now what…

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but having a timeline can help you stay organised and ensure that you don't miss any important details. Here's Opus Couture wedding timeline for planning your big day:

12 - 18 months before the big day:

  • Set a budget and decide on the type of wedding you want (indoor/outdoor, home/abroad, formal/informal, etc.).

  • Create a guest list and decide on who will be in your wedding party.

  • Start looking for a venue you love, and secure a date.

  • Hire a wedding planner if you decide you want one.

  • Start researching and booking suppliers such as hair and makeup, photographers, florists, and musicians.

  • Send save-the-date cards to guests.

  • Book an appointment at Opus and start shopping for your dress!

9-12 months before the wedding:

  • Choose and order wedding attire for the bride, groom, and wedding party. Bride, you should look at being organised first, preferably at least 12 months before.

  • Finalise your guest list and design invitations.

  • Choose a wedding officiant and meet with them to discuss the ceremony.

  • Plan your honeymoon and book travel arrangements.

6-9 months before the wedding:

  • Schedule hair and makeup trials, SUPER TIP- you could try to organise these on the same day that you see your wedding dress for the first time!

  • Start planning your wedding ceremony and reception decor with your florist or event team.

  • Choose wedding invitations and favours and get them ordered.

  • Book transportation for your wedding day if necessary.

  • Book your fitting appointments with Opus’ alteration team.

3-6 months before the wedding:

  • Choose your wedding rings.

  • Finalise your wedding ceremony and reception decor.

  • Start your dress fittings. (We prefer 12 weeks from first fit to collection)

  • Confirm all suppliers and make final payments.

  • Look into the legal paperwork you will need so that your marriage is official!

1-3 months before the wedding:

  • Complete and send your Marriage Notice form to the registrar in the area you will be married in.

  • Finalise the seating chart and place cards.

  • Have a final meeting with the wedding planner and/or vendors and confirm the running order of your day.

  • Organise your honeymoon wardrobe and make sure you’ve got all vaccinations if needed.

  • Book nails, facials, waxing etc for the week before the wedding.

1-2 weeks before the wedding:

  • Confirm all details with vendors and your wedding party.

  • Pick up your wedding dress and make sure the groom knows he’s to collect his outfit too! Don’t forget your bridal underwear, always keep it with your dress.

  • Pack for your wedding day.

  • Enjoy all your beauty treatments, not long now!!

On the wedding day:

  • Relax, enjoy your day, and trust that your planning and preparation will make sure everything runs smoothly.
